Overview
Wyoming has no mandatory statewide residential code for privately owned detached single-family homes. Wyo. Stat. Ann. § 35-9-106 (authority) and § 35-9-108 (the scope of the statewide codes does not extend beyond commercial and government buildings and structures). Lingle, Wyoming, adopted the 2021 International Building Code. Lingle, WY Muni. Code §8-1-1 (adoption). Note the municipal code shows the 1994 Uniform Building Code; however, the local jurisdiction must maintain by ordinance or resolution standards that at least meet the statewide standards otherwise enforcement authority immediately reverts to the DFPSC. Wyo. Stat. Ann. § 15-1-119 and Wyo. Stat. § 35-9-121. Wyoming enforces the 2021 ICC codes as they apply to commercial and governmental properties.

Existing buildings, meaning buildings that were built in accordance to code at the time of
construction, typically merit extra consideration in a current updated code.
No adoption of Appendix J regarding Existing Buildings or the International Existing Building Code was located in the municipal code or the city website.
Commercial Building Code
Lingle adopted the 2021 IBC, locally. Note that adoptions usually come with amendments. So, it is important to review those amendments in addition to the unamended model code.
